Music Lessons
Come learn how to play an instrument! We frequently have students studying piano. Other students receive instruction in trumpet, trombone, guitar and ukulele. Interested in a different instrument? Shoot us an email. You never know what other instruments we have up our sleeves until you ask!
Many (but not all) of our students have disabilities. Due to the shortage in our community of teachers equipped to serve these students, typically developing students may be referred to the Music House or another instructor with more availability.

A variety of strategies are employed in teaching music, based on the needs of each student. Some students use method books and learn to read traditional music on the staff. Others learn using chord patterns and hand shapes. Others learn entirely by ear. Music can be done many ways and our goal is to help each student make music that they like.
Some younger students may not be ready to start with formal instrument lessons but enjoy general music lessons, exploring the various qualities through music in an active, multi-modal fashion.
Music has all these wonderful benefits. So what’s the difference between music lessons and music therapy?
Music lessons have the primary goal of increased musicianship (getting better at music) and music therapy has a non-musical primary goal. Music therapy is a clinical practice involving specific goal-setting, interventions targeting said goal, and ongoing data collection.
